Two halves make a whole. The white and yellow gold halves of this ring are united by a seamless woodworking-inspired lap joint. While many of the more intricate Japanese joineries are better suited for smaller wooden fixtures like furniture or shoji doors, the lap joint (koshikake-tsugi) is able to support substantial weight, making it ideal for heavy construction. As our first wedding band, this design symbolizes the strength of the bond between two souls; two distinct parts joining together to form a stronger whole.
